Let's face it... as you look at the modern day church today,
its programs and the activities often seem more like things
you would do on a cruise ship than in a church. It is easy to lose
focus on why the church really exists.
It is easy for people to start acting more like consumers then part of the body of Christ.
At Island ECC we are keenly aware of this, which is why we always keep the purpose (vision and mission) of the church at the forefront of everything we do.
Our programs are merely a means to an end in our church... the form that informs the function of reaching people who do not know Jesus Christ and developing Christians into fully functional followers of Christ.
We like to think of our church more as a "Carrier Task Force", with each ministry representing a different ship in the battle group... each ministry carrying out its specific and unique purpose to reach people in a lost world desperate for Jesus Christ.
